First Week

Dear Parents,

We have had a wonderful first week! We have talked about rules and procedures each day to help each of them do their best in our classroom as well as different locations throughout the school. We have also taken a few tests (which have not been fun), but they have all been a good sport about it. 

Many students have still not picked a county yet to present on. I will be making the schedule of when each student will be presenting them over the next week. If your child has a certain county they would like to do their report on please email me soon!

If your child wants to run to be on the student council those forms will be due on Tuesday! Student council meetings will be the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month from 3:35-4:15.

If your child wants to join the Eastlake Choir those papers are due next Friday! Choir is every Thursday morning at 8:00. 

It has been so fun getting to know all the students. They are doing an amazing job at following the rules in my classroom and working extra hard each day. Please tell them to keep up the good work!

First Day

 Dear Parents,

We had a wonderful first day of school! It was so fun to get to know all of the students and try to remember all 43 names:/ I have more than half of them memorized already...but I believe that is because I have had their older siblings previously. It is so fun getting to know them.

We learned a lot of procedures and rules today. They also got to play a guessing game about me and learn all my secrets:) Hopefully they will share some of them with you when they find out all the answers tomorrow.

They do have their first homework assignment tonight. It is called a “ME BAG”. Please look at it and have them return it to school tomorrow!

This is so important since I communicate this way 90% of the time. We will have snack time everyday. Students are welcome to bring in a snack each day to eat right after recess (please try to avoid snacks with nuts). Students know the rules about the snacks and that it must be something small – like one fruit snack, small baggie of pretzels or gold fish, small granola bar, etc. I also did encourage them to just get 4 different snacks on Sunday night, put all 4 in their backpack, then they have one for each day of the week if they want one (we will not be doing snacks on Friday's). That way they are not stressing about it each morning. 

Please remember to email me soon if you would like your child to do a specific county for their county report. Some are already taken, but many are left. If you don’t email me I will just assign your child a specific county, 

Tomorrow we will be learning about our classroom rules and the rewards/consequences for the rules. I have these listed in the back to school flip book – PLEASE look over them with your child tonight if you can so they are familiar with them! 

I am excited to see them again tomorrow and to get to know them better by having them share their “ME BAGS”!

Welcome

Welcome back to school! I am so excited for the school year to begin. We are going to be learning about so many fun and interesting things this year. We will be learning about the plants, animals, sun, moon, waves, Utah, math facts, literacy novels, vocabulary, and many more!
This first week of school we will be taking some pre-assessments and reviewing procedures and classroom rules.  We will also be starting our literacy program, Journeys, as well as math.
This week we will be doing some fun getting to know you activities and having a good time. I know many of you already know each other, but I cannot wait to meet all of you and get to know all of your likes, dislikes, enjoyments, and sweet personalities. 
Our time together will be crunched because we will be switching each day with the Chinese class at lunchtime.  We only have 2 hours and 10 minutes together each day and we are going to work extra hard to get all of our learning in during that short time.  During their 2+ hour block we will be doing our literacy program (reading, writing, grammar, fluency, etc), math, social studies, and science.  It will be a lot of fun, but it is extremely important to come each day ready and to do your part! 

I hope you are as excited as I am about coming to school! I can't wait to meet all of you and to go on this new adventure with you.
